Inter Miami Messi Charlotte: A New Team, A New Club, A New Signing
Inter Miami’s new signing, Lionel Messi, is already making an impact in the team’s first preseason game. The Argentine superstar scored a goal and had an assist in Inter Miami’s 5-3 win over Charlotte Independence in a closed-door scrimmage on Wednesday.
It was a dream debut for Messi, who signed with Inter Miami last week. The six-time Ballon d’Or winner showed why he is considered one of the greatest players of all time, as he was a constant threat throughout the game.
Messi’s goal came in the first half, as he showed off his brilliant finishing ability. He received a pass from fellow Argentine Gonzalo Higuain, before calmly slotting the ball into the back of the net.
The assist was equally as impressive, as Messi picked out Higuain with a pinpoint pass that split the Charlotte defense. Higuain then made no mistake, as he fired Inter Miami into the lead.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with Charlotte equalizing twice, but Inter Miami ultimately ran out 5-3 winners.
